Andy Osborne - Beaded Dragon Artisans
Location: Roslindale House
Wood turning begins on the lathe as the basis for functional decorative and abstractpieces: hollow forms, bowls, platters, wall hangings, vases and sculptural works. Function drives form. When freed from the constraints of function, form is shaped by the intersection of the consensus reality and imagination.
Taking what's in the world around us, I let the image percolate through my imagination. The result is a tangible work that can be held in one’s hands a visual and tactile experience for both maker and viewer. Some pieces take months or years to develop. Others appear in final form. Each is an expression of the wood and my internal influences.
