Lisa L. Sarkis - Dusted Red Woodworking
Location: Home Studio - 53 Augustus Avenue
Also at this location: Kurtis Brown
Lisa has been crafting in wood, as a hobby, for over 20 years. She took her first woodworking class at the Eliot School in 1993. Her designs are driven by function and use, rather than pure aesthetics. She is inspired by Spanish Mission style and exotic woods. Her work plays on contrasting design elements and colors, many of her pieces are constructed of repurposed and recycled materials. Dusted Red gets its name from the fine red sawdust created from padauk wood used for marimba keys. After a day of shaping and tuning, she and her entire basement shop, including the official shop dog Lucy, are "dusted" red.
