I am predominantly a watercolor artist creating landscapes and dreamscapes with stained glass luminosity. I am also known for my bold oils that feature bright color and deep shadows, conjuring the feeling of shady places on a summer day. I am inspired by nostalgic images and by scenes that evoke a sense of the sublime. Many of my in-studio works on canvas deal with families and rural America in the 1950s. During the summer I paint in the mountains of New England, particularly the White Mountains. Each year I hike in the backcountry and paint with an intent to capture the changeable weather, steep trails, and inspiring views.
