Texture and tactile experience is important in my process of creating expressive, dimensional, and textured seasonal landscapes. I alternate between working with oil with cold wax medium, felted wool, and encaustic collage. Oil and cold wax medium makes a heavy bodied paint allowing for interesting marks. Painting with fluffy bits of colored wool involves a delicate and deliberate layering of color to create depth and soft impressionistic scenes. Encaustic collage incorporates various papers and layers of hot wax binding and sealing the papers. Incorporating branches in my collages creates dimensionality and an element of the unexpected. Resulting in traditional landscapes created in an unconventional way that invite a second look.
